U S A
This 'low to almost no budget' film is a different coming out story about a family [mother, father and son] in which the lovingly inclusive and supportive parents have never discussed, but always assumed, that their son was gay. With unsolicited fervor they have involved themselves in every LGBTQ cause possible. They are extremely proud of their son, and his being gay is a bonus! They were living for the moment that their son would share his life with them, and in equality would marry the person of his choice, have children, and live and love happily...but when he tells them that he's straight, their 'perfect world' begins to crumble! The film, under the guise of comedy, uses role reversal to call attention to issues, which include coming out, equal marriage rights, equal adoption rights and the suggestion of the connection of genetics to sexual preference. Underneath the fluff, this film for some will simply be a confirmation, but for others who might be thinking about sharing things about themselves, maybe they will be encouraged to be themselves, not what others want or expect them to be, and they might gain the courage to share who they really are with those they love. For those who have not, or would not, or could not accept others who are different from themselves, perhaps the film will encourage them to re-examine their biases and maybe react more positively to this lesson of acceptance than they would to a more militant portrayal. Perhaps audiences, regardless of sexual orientation and/or belief system, might come to realize that everyone has the right to love.
